So far we hosted a number of shows in Rotorua. We started our collective in November with Midge Mcleary (NZ) at Abracadabra, followed by French for Rabbits (NZ), Timothy Blackman and the Only Child (NZ). Then Stuart O’Connor (UK) paid us a visit, also in the funky beer garden at Abracadabra.
In January we took the steam paddle boat out for an epic full moon live music show, featuring The Mighty Delaney Davidson (NZ) and Dos Hermanos (GERMANY). It certainly was a memorable one!
In March we hosted Hugh McGinlay (Aus) at Otonga Road School Hall and at Okere Falls Store, and in April, Stuart O’Connor saw us again for an intimate special show at Studio-One, The Arts Village.
Matiu Te Huki (NZ) warmed our hearts in May at Brew Craft Beer & Pub and played a marathon of songs to make us all dance. Wow!
In August we hosted two shows: Nuit de Joie! ft The (magnificent) Mamaku Project, Lupavision, JerseyBob & Our Monika and local favourites, the Rotorua Racco taiko drummers. This show was nearly sold out and everybody on board the Lakeland Queen danced and wooed to the wonderful music. Great footage was taken by Riley Claxton and Petra Zoe took amazing pictures. Thank you!
Later on in August, we celebrated original folk music with a bang and held a truly special evening at Grounded Specialty Coffee and Tea, Hinemoa St. It had an epic turn out! Certainly great to see so many people wanting a listening space for original live music! We also introduced Raw Food Chef, Monika Vincent. Apart from being JerseyBob’s percussionist, she also has a talent for making delicious healthy food.
For Sept two shows are planned. One is for JerseyBob and Our Monika at The Wall and Basement Cinema, Rotorua. Stories, songs and slides inspired by their travels. 15 Sept, and tickets must be booked prior to attending. There are only 23 seats and to secure a comfy seat, please email Karin at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tickets are $15 each.
Also for Sept, Emma Wall from Melbourne, Victoria, is stopping by for an intimate house concert. Her songs can be found on iTunes or on her website http://www.emmawall.com. Again, please email Karin if you would like to come along.
