Introducing Looking for Alaska NZ – Rogue Folk Music Festival at Waiotapu 27 to 29 March

Looking for Alaska is an acoustic duo from Hamilton, consisting of Aaron Gott and Amy Maynard. They discovered their mutual passion for music in high school when they worked on a recording assignment. From the classroom they stepped out and performed on the street, in theaters, in school halls and recently, at Vector Arena. They were on a shortlist to show their talent at a recent round of Boot Camp in Auckland. I recall the secrecy and then the excitement to say that they have gone through to the next round.

Looking for Alaska has been chosen by me to open the stage on Saturday afternoon at the Rogue Folk Music Festival. For me it is a honour to include local, young and upcoming talent in this year’s line-up. I have followed this duo for over two years and have really liked what I have seen and heard. Here they are performing a cover of Etta James’ At Last.
