The Frank Burkitt Band is a full 5 piece folk band – double bass, guitar, fiddle, mandolin & vocals. Frank Burkitt originates from Scotland, where he has been building his craft in his native Edinburgh, playing traditional folk in traditional Scottish pubs for the good of past 10 years. He relocated to Wellington in 2014 and assembled a fine bunch of local musicians to sing songs with and consequently persuaded to go on tour with. If you look closely, you ll see a familiar face in the band – Cameron “Dusty” Burnell – an excellent multi-instrumentalist whom we have seen perform with Rob Joass’ Hardcore Troubadours at Vegas City Limits (2014). The other members are: Krissy Jackson (Fiddle), Kara Filbey (Backing Vocals and Percussion) and James Geluk (Double Bass).

The word on the street is that he (Frank Burkitt) is a great song writer – one reviewer, Matt Herrett from New Plymouth (after their sold out Studio 64 show) said, “Frank has a very rare talent for songwriting. There are many people who write good songs. To be honest, anyone can write a good song with a bit of coaching and a book of tricks. Not many have the ability and tenacity to write GREAT songs. Frank has that in spades. His band of virtuosos (Krissy Jackson, Cameron Dusty Burnell and James Galuk take these great songs and give them flight. It’s astonishing and frankly, world class.”

Frank has previously had very successful tours in North America, Australia and in NZ. For us here in Rotorua, it ll be an absolute treat to be immersed in original song writing as to what Frank can offer.

‘Burkitt – backed by his four-piece band – hollered, crooned and generally swooned his merry way through a plethora of footstomping ditties.’ Edinburgh Evening News.

To read more & listen to the new album, I suggest following this link and checking out his website. This tour is in aid of their brand new album release: Fools & Kings.

Tickets are on sale at Musicworks Rotorua and at Eventfinder NZ.
