2015 Line-up: Matiu Te Huki, Lloyd Akroyd, Zarek Silberschmidt, Albi and more!
Last year our year end celebration was a big success and we decided to host it again this year. We are incredibly lucky to have secured another spell bounding line-up of local NZ and local Rotorua performers for 2015. Drawn in from afar as Paekakariki, this year will be another highlight of our intimate live music concerts in Rotorua!
Zarek Silberschmidt, originally from Reporoa, has just completed a BA in Musical Arts and wowed the crowd at the recent Blues Club meet. His technical ability on the guitar, combining rhythmic slaps and delicate harmonic tones, brings a whole new dimension to the acoustic guitar. His compositions are energetic, thought provoking and reverend to his influences like Tommy Emmanuel. Very exciting to have him join us in the line-up, as he will be embarking on a trip to Europe soon to further his studies.
Chris Dent, aka Albi from Albi and the Wolves, almost need no introduction. As seen live at Music at the Museum #1 (Aug 2015), Albi fronted a band of lively folk musicians and wherever I have seen him perform since, his infectious energy has had the crowd applauding for more. Self penned originals as well as a repertoire of folk covers, Albi will certainly have you sing along or even up on your feet dancing!
And while you are up on your feet and dancing, Matiu Te Huki will have you up in the dancing circle for a few more songs. Known for his earthy roots style music, uplifting lyrics and looping beat box rhythms, Matiu Te Huki has toured and performed with bands such as Appalachian Rising (Italy) and Oka (Australia). Locally he has performed alongside Anika Moa and Tiki Taane, as well as Maisy Rika.
Lloyd Akroyd, singer songwriter from Rotorua, has been performing at The Rogue Stage events since 2013 and for the last 15 years on and off with covers’ band: Gravel Road. Seen at Pig and Whistle many times, Lloyd not only is a master of few classic rock songs, but also a great song writer as seen on This Town TV series. ‘We ve got love’ is a beautiful song composed and written for his lovely wife. Rhona. Always a pleasure to hear him play!
The line-up will also include other performers from our local area.
