Cricket Farm are a three-piece indie-folk/gypsy act hailing from Auckland, New Zealand.
Since their formation in 2016 they have won the hearts of audiences with their quaint and sunny sound, which the band describes as “music for hopeless romantic conspiracy
theorists.”
Cricket Farm is made up of multidisciplinary artist Hayley Robertson, Sims Ross (Yebisu, The Murderchord) and Joel Vinsen (Ijebu Pleasure Club, Spiral, Panhandlers).

Reviews:

‘Hard truths sung in a soft voice, accompanied by plucky Chet Atkins inspired nylon string guitar and ukulele, and coloured with clarinet, acoustic gypsy jazz guitar & weird buzzy electric guitar’.

‘I cried three times’ – sad/happy punter.

‘Cricket Farm sing so sweetly but then there are these intense lyrics. And their dynamic on stage is magic. It’s just really good. No really. I’m serious. It is really just very good.’ – Rohan Evans (Wine Cellar)

‘One of the best shows & audience rapport I’ve seen here; reminds me of the Nukes.’ – Punter, Eggsentric Cafe Whitianga

‘What the f*** is that instrument the singer played and rapped to’ that is the singularly most brilliant performance of a piece of music by one person that I’ve seen in a long time! crazy great.’ – Dave Alley

‘Sounds like Django Reinhardt, but with more arms’. – Will Saunders

Esther Swift has travelled the world extensively with her music making, and embraces many different influences in her virtuosic harp playing composing and song writing. She writes
songs about her homeland of Scotland, drawing on her folk roots, and taking inspiration from nature and the people she meets along the way. An eclectic blend of jazz, folk, classical
and everything in between, Esther will share with you her stories and musical experiences from around the world.

Lawrence Arabia

‘An evening alone with Lawrence Arabia’ should be on your calendar as a must see show.

Why? Because he is among the greatest of NZ musicians – a recipient of many prestigious awards such as the APRA Silver Scroll for ‘Apple Pie Bed’ (co-written with The Phoenix Foundation’s Lukasz Buda), the Taite Music Prize for Chant Darling, a Tui for Best Solo Male Album for Sparrow, followed by a four star review of the same album by UK’s magazine, Mojo. Not to mention the international record deals and collaborations with musicians such a Liam Finn and Connan Mockasin.

The other reason why this show should be on your calendar as a must see show, is that his songs are bloody good and he is a top notch artist/performer/writer.

You can also read more about the event here: in his own words.

The intimacy of Princes Gate’s Monarch Room is the perfect setting to relax with Lawrence Arabia and his collection of songs over a 10 year period. I hope you can stow away $15 to buy your ticket.
